Project Overview
Caritas Veritate Missions/LiftLife Global Health, with the full blessing of the Bishop of Mbeya, is partnering with the Sisters at the Catholic hospital in Mwanbani to build a comprehensive OBGYN Labor & Delivery Facility, a Maternity Waiting Home (MWH), and an adjoining Chapel.
Maternity Waiting Homes provide safe lodging near medical care for high-risk mothers, ensuring timely access to skilled delivery and emergency treatment. Together, these facilities form a proven, faith-based model that dramatically reduces maternal, infant, and child mortality while upholding the dignity of every life.

Mwambani Mission Hospital, a vital part of the Catholic Archdiocese of Mbeya under the guidance of Archbishop Rev. Gervas John Mwasikwabhila Nyaisonga, proudly serves the community in the Songwe District Council. Established in 1968 by the dedicated Missionaries of the Franciscan Sisters of Denekamp from the Netherlands, this hospital is a beacon of hope for the entire Songwe District and beyond, reaching residents in Chunya, Mbeya Rural, Momba, and Mbozi Districts. Catering to a population of 174,709, as per the 2012 National Population Census, Mwambani is the sole referral hospital in the region. Together, we’re making a positive impact on healthcare in our community. Please find the link to the business plan for this project..https://caritasvm.org/plan
